The modifications are not limited to the engine and suspension, but also include the fairing, developed and designed by Ducati Corse in collaboration with the Ducati Style Center, which improves the aerodynamic efficiency of the bike. The new hull also integrates the aerodynamic appendages developed for the MotoGP prototypes. Made of carbon fiber, they derive from the profiles developed for the MotoGP and increase the stability in all the driving phases increasing the confidence of the rider for an even more efficient and effective driving. The Panigale V4 R is in practice a racing bike of the WSBK category approved for road use, and represents the technical starting base for the official Ducati Superbike that will compete in the World Championship starting from the 2019 season. The 1,103 cm3 Road Desmosedici engine leaves the place at the Desmosedici Stradale R from 998 cm3, to fall within the limits of displacement imposed by the WSBK championship. Unlike the larger displacement V4, designed to have a fluid and full-bodied delivery at low revs that makes it usable even on the road, the 998 cm3 Desmosedici Stradale R has a more extreme character, with a "sharp" delivery designed for track performance. It is also characterized by lighter internal components, which contribute to reducing the weight of the bike by 2 kg compared to the Panigale V4S, bringing it to only 193 kg in running order. The superior suction efficiency that allows it to "take the turns" more quickly and have the red area of the tachometer moved higher, to ensure a greater extension. The result is 221 hp (162 kW) delivered at 15,250 rpm (values referring to EU type approval), 2,250 rpm higher than the maximum peak power of the 1,103 cm3 V4 engine. Impressive numbers, which become even more incredible by mounting the Ducati Performance full-racing exhaust by Akrapovič, which bring the maximum power that goes up to 234 hp (172 kW) at 15,500 rpm. The Ducati of the most powerful series ever! Solid, winning and with a dream bike to excite the general public, accessories and clothing that interpret style and originality, Ducati presents itself to the general public of the 76th edition of EICMA (Hall 15 Stand N06), confirming its role as a reference that this iconic brand covers in the international motorcycle industry.
